Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the purposes for which it may be used, and the limited circumstances in which it may be shared. Continued use of Chambers County Criminal History signifies acceptance of these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query under its own policy and supplies the result. Chambers County Criminal History does not retain or log those terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email may be retained long enough to review and answer it. Messages remain within the operating team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

Ordinary server and analytics logs may collect technical details when a page loads:

  • Page-view dates and times
  • Visited pages and approximate time spent on them
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser type and version
  • Referring website, when available
  • The device's assigned IP address

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files saved on a device. They and analytics services help measure aggregate traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. A browser can block cookies, though doing so may change how parts of the site work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Route a submitted search to the selected outside provider
  • Maintain site availability and page speed
  • Diagnose errors and other technical problems
  • Measure which pages are useful and which need revision
  • Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Chambers County Criminal History does not keep, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its content identifies official custodians such as the sheriff, Circuit Clerk, ALEA Criminal Records Identification Unit, and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not turned into a third-party criminal record or consumer report, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing rules govern information submitted to them. Review the relevant provider's terms before entering a query because this policy does not control that processing.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to sheriff, court, state-agency, registry, or outside search websites. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's policy applies. Check it before providing personal details.

Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. That tracking is governed by the partner.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:

  • Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
  • Search providers processing a visitor's submitted query
  • Advertising networks serving material on the pages
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet-connected service is completely secure, so an absolute guarantee against unauthorized access cannot be made.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. A verified report of such data will be reviewed for deletion.

Your Data Rights

Available rights depend on applicable law and the kind of data involved. The Alabama Open Records Act, Ala. Code §36-12-40, concerns access to government records, while Ala. Code §41-9-601 restricts unauthorized acquisition or communication of criminal-history information. Neither provision turns this private site into a government record custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:

  • Request access to personal data held about them
  • Ask that inaccurate personal data be corrected
  • Seek deletion when the law permits it
  • Opt out of eligible forms of processing

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised as site practices change. A new version becomes available here with an updated effective date.
